Patti Connor created this quick and easy way to finish her Home for You and Me panel with simple pieced borders and border strips to make a 60" x 78" quilt. Use her full-size templates and fusible web for the letters to spell "Home for You and Me" or personalize the quilt with your own family name. For the letters, you can find lots of letter stencils in fun fonts in hobby and craft stores. Populate the house and yard and the inner border with the busy adults and playful kids from the figure toss. Tip: Patti suggests using Terial Magic Fabric Spray or spray starch to stabilize the appliqués before stitching. Machine appliqué the letters and figures with a blanket or decorative stitch of your choice. To finish, layer, quilt as desired, bind, and don't forget a label for the back.
Options: Have some fun with embellishments! Add little buttons or tiny snaps for drawer pulls in the attic sewing room. Sew or glue bows or other treasures from your stash to the figures. Then, paint the light fixtures, ceiling fans, computer monitor, and TV screen with glow in the dark pens so your quilt is fun to look at both day and night!
