Binding Your Quilt

Description:  Learn about all the different ways to finish the edge of your completed quilt.  Samples of standard binding, including techniques for joining the ends of the binding strip, bias binding on curves, and a facing finish will be made in class, providing a reference for the future.

First Time Quiltmaking

Description:  Let Norma help you make your very first quilt in this class!  Learn about measuring, rotary cutting, and simple piecing.  We’ll finish the edge with a continuous machine binding and tie the layers together to complete this crib size quilt.  Basic knowledge of you sewing machine is expected.

Jellied Lone Star Quilt

Description:  This class is for experienced quilters who want to learn something new with a contemporary spin.  Class will complete 59" x 59" Lone Star Medallion with no Y seams.  Simple Jelly Roll pattern with strips with an end result that looks like you did something way more complicated.  The Lone Star Medallion is a very popular quilt with new technique from Terri Swallow.

Machine Quilting

Description:  Complete your quilting projects in days instead of weeks!  Learn to do free-motion machine quilting on your very own sewing machine.  The class covers marking, basting, stippling, and the all-important free motion technique used to follow marked lines.  A marked fabric and batting sandwiched sample will be provided as part of the class fee for you to practice with.

Description:  The Mia by Serendipity patterns is cool and chic pullover shift dress. No zippers to worry about. There are only 2 pattern pieces that feature simple darting, bias bound neckline and armholes and is a snap to make. Dress variations include using contrasting fabrics for the bindings and plain or ruffled hem band as well as layering of fabrics. The design is a perfect canvas to showcase border print fabrics and those with large motifs. The classic A-line silhouette of the shift ensures a flattering fit for every body type and with the option of 5 hemlines. It can be worn as a shirt, tunic or flowy dress.

Phoebe-Tina Givens Design

Description:  This darling shirt and pants duo is so comfortable you will want to live in them. The shirt has a double layer construction and may be made in one color or two. It also has a ¾ sleeve with pleated details. The pants feature a side panel, elastic waist and low crotch (can be altered out if so desired). This is a breezy and comfortable outfit so often seen worn by those attending Round Top Festival.

Description:  A fast and fun quilt top to make in a day.  This quilt is a Chevron pattern featuring the Strip Tube Technique.  Pattern will make a Baby, Throw, Twin, Queen and King size!  Great way to learn how to use the Strip Tube Ruler.  Great class for any quilt skill level.

Sunsations Magnolia

Description:  Sunsation Magnolia was designed by Judy and Brad Niemeyer as part of the Sunrise Mixer series which includes three distinct groups to create an 80: x 80” quilt.  This class uses a static set of groups and will discuss other options available to work on your own.  The pattern teaches many of Judy’s latest techniques for paper piecing.    Join Jan Mathews, a Judy Niemeyer/Quiltworx Certified Instructor, for lots of fun, and learn a few tricks, too!!!

Waves at the Shore --Beginning Machine Applique

Description:  LEARN MACHINE APPLIQUE – Let Norma teach you how to Machine Applique the easy way.  Instructions will include cutting out a template, attaching applique, and machine stitching on a block.  This pattern makes for a beautiful quilt with directions to make it two different sizes.

Pre-cutting will be required.

Clubs

Books and a Blanket

Description:  Join Charles and help him make some quilts for our local Books and a Blanket program.  You only need to bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and your lunch.  Bottled water and sodas are available for purchase.  All of your materials will be furnished for you as you learn a new quilt pattern from Charles!

Farmer's Wife 1930's Club

Description:  Do you love the cheery prints of the 1930’s?  Are you interested in learning more about the lives of women who lived during the great depression?  Then come and join Betty while we explore the book The Farmer’s Wife 1930’s by Laurie Hird. 

This Club will be scheduled each month through December on the second Wednesday at either 10A or 6P.  The goal for this club is for you to finish 8 – 9 blocks each month and bring them to the next meeting.  We will be making the sampler quilt from the book using 6 inch blocks.  The overall size of the quilt is 86” x 103” (queen size) and includes 99 blocks. Other options could be a lap quilt (32 blocks), twin (84 blocks) or king (126 blocks).  The group will focus mainly on foundation paper piecing.  However, you can also piece by hand, as Laurie does, or machine piece using templates.

Cost: $10/month

Machine Embroidery Club

Description:  We will meet the 4th Tuesday of each month to complete a small project, open to all machine brands.  A supply list will be available each month in advance, with some supplies included in the club price.

Rug Hooking Club

Description:  Join Terry and Kathy and the Aggieland Rug Hookers as we hook the day away!  Bring a brown bag lunch and whatever project you are working on.  This group is great fun and you will learn lots of tips.  Don’t rug hook and would like to learn?  We have all of the supplies you will need and teach classes by request.  Know of somebody who rug hooks?  Please let them know we have lots of wool in many different colors.
